Lily

Lily at the hospital

At the hospital.

Lily Mae

Wow.... I have not made a post in a long time.  Life with two is busy but wonderful. Most of you have received a birth announcement, but if you did not I apologize.  You probably did not receive one because I did not have a current address for you.  Yes, Lily Mae is here and she is a happy and healthy baby.  The second baby is soo much easier then the first in a lot of ways.
1) Labor and delivery was quick and easy to recover from.  (will touch base on later)
2) You already know how to take care of a baby, changing diapers, feeding, bathing, doctors visits, and getting out of the house is just another day.
3) Crying doesn't bother you as much.  Maybe Lily isn't as loud as Ella was or still.... or maybe it just doesn't send me in panic like it used too.

The hard part is taking care of a baby AND a Toddler.  Ella is in the phase of "Why?" right now.  So shes asking questions non stop.  When she is not asking questions, she wants a book read to her, a snack, to watch her favorite TV show, to color, and just as I sit down to feed Lily , Ella needs to go to the bathroom.  So needless to say, I never get a moment of peace until Ella takes a nap.  But I guess I should be thankful she is still willing to take a nap.

Oh Yeah..... Lily.
She came into this world quick.  Not like Ella's 28 hour labor.  Lily knew that it was time to meet the rest of the family.
9/11/12
2 AM
I woke up as I usually do while very pregnant, and used the bathroom.  I could not fall back asleep because I was having cramps.... and hungry of course.  I went down stairs ate my bowl of Cheerios, watched TV and feel back asleep on the couch. At some point I went back up stairs and at this time I will still having cramps but I was not in pain.  I knew it was the beginning of labor but tried not to get to excited, so in an effort to save my energy for the event I slept in till 9 am.
I came downstairs, still looking pretty tired I guess.  Ben and my mom had that " Here it comes" look on their face.   The morning went pretty well. I started having contractions but nothing I could really keep track of, and nothing too painful. I layed on the couch, ate breakfast and lunch while watching HGTV, my Favorite channel.
Sometime around 12 pm I told Ben it was time to move up stairs and get in the tub.  My contractions were becoming more painful and they were starting to come at regular intervals now.  I remember thinking "Im in the long haul now!"  About an hour later Ben was calling our doula.  When she arrived she took one look at me and said it was time to get to the hospital.  I thought "No way am I ready. Ella was 28 hours! Ive only been in labor for a couple of hours."  We got the hospital around 2:30 and the ladies checking me in and the patients in the ER waiting room had a look of horror, and panic.  I was too busy focusing on my breathing and trying not to scare the other people in the waiting room but I caught someone talking on the phone saying... " We need a wheel chair NOW!".  I thought "Whats the big hurry, Im going to be here all damn night."  Before I knew it I was in the room, in a gown with a nurse telling me I was already 9cm.  I panicked.  I thought for sure my doctor would miss the birth.  I held out pushing to let him arrive.  He walked in, said it was time to push and 7 mins later , at 3:14pm Lily was born.  She arrived so quick that we didn't even bring the camera, or our bags inside the hospital. Even our friend Amy missed the birth by 5 mins. Which was a little bit sad for us both since I attended the birth of her second child. But Lily had other plans.  She weighed in at 6lbs 14 oz and 21 inches long.    It's still unbelievable how quick everything went.  The labor was easy, recovery has been easy, breastfeeding is easier and we have an easy baby.  We are so lucky.  The whole process has been amazing.

Now Lily is 2 months (almost 10 weeks), and weighs 9lbs 9 oz.  A little small compared to my formula fed baby but Lily is happy, eating well and growing and thats all that matters.  Oh and she is sleeping through out the night!!!
And Ella loves being a big sister.  She hugs and kisses Lily just as much as Ben and I do.
So now that I have finally posted Lilys birth story I will be able to post pics. I didn't feel right posting pictures of Lily with out fully introducing her on to the blog.  Welcome to the family Lily Mae!!!
